G2A Review

Is G2A Legit? Our Quick Verdict

Yes, G2A is a real, long running marketplace, not a scam. It holds a 4.0 out of 5 rating from over 348,000 Trustpilot reviews. Like any marketplace of independent sellers, the experience depends on who you buy from, and G2A has a documented history of disputes with indie developers over stolen and chargeback keys, which we cover honestly below along with how G2A responded. Most day to day purchases go through without issue.

FAQs

Is G2A legit or a scam?

G2A is a real, registered company, not a scam, and holds a 4.0 out of 5 rating from over 348,000 Trustpilot reviews. It is a marketplace of independent sellers, so most purchases go through fine, but it is not the same as buying from a single official retailer.

Has G2A had problems with stolen keys in the past?

Yes, and we think it is fairer to say so plainly than to leave it out. In 2019, No More Robots founder Mike Rose publicly criticised G2A over stolen and chargeback keys being sold on the marketplace. G2A responded by offering to pay developers ten times the amount they could prove was lost to chargebacks, if they took part in an audit. Wube Software, the developer of Factorio, took up the offer, and G2A's investigation confirmed 198 stolen keys had been sold on the site, which G2A then paid out for. G2A also launched G2A Direct, which lets developers claim a share of revenue when their games are resold on the marketplace.

Are G2A keys region locked?

Some are, since keys come from many individual sellers. Check the listing before you buy.

Does G2A offer refunds?

Refunds go through the seller first, since G2A is a marketplace. If that does not resolve it, G2A support can step in, with refunds typically resolved within 45 days.
