Frequently Asked Questions

KrakenKeys is a site that helps you find the best prices on Steam games. It compares prices across retailers, so you can save money on everything from big releases to indie favourites.

The name is inspired by the Kraken, the mythical sea creature known for its power and love of the deep sea. The 'Keys' part refers to the game keys I help you find at the best prices.

KrakenKeys was created to help gamers save money on their favourite games. I built it around a few core values:

• Clutter free: the site should be clear and easy to navigate, so you can find what you need without digging through noise.
• Transparency: I'm open about how the site works, and I use pages like this to explain the decisions behind it.
• Fresh data: I work with IGDB and maintain custom integration tools to keep game data accurate and up to date.

Price alerts are a feature that allows you to set a target price for a game. When the price of the game drops to or below your target price, you will receive an email.
You can create a price alert on any game page, or by going to the "My Account" page and clicking on the "Price Alerts" tab. From there, you can manage all of your price alerts in one place.

Yes, you can customise the stores that are included in your price alerts. When creating or editing a price alert, you will see a list of available stores. You can select or deselect stores as you wish. By default, all stores are selected.
If you have keyshops toggled off, you will not see keyshops in the list of stores when creating or editing a price alert. If you have keyshops toggled on, you will see keyshops in the list of stores when creating or editing a price alert.

Yes, you can link your Steam account to KrakenKeys. You can either link your account via the "My Account" page, or during the sign-up process. Linking your Steam account lets me automatically fetch your Steam wishlist. In the "My Account" page, you can see your linked Steam account, and unlink it if you wish.

Once you have linked your Steam account, I will automatically fetch your Steam wishlist. You can then create price alerts for any game on your wishlist with a single click. This makes it easy to keep track of the games you want, and ensure you never miss a deal on them. You can also view the prices of the games on your wishlist, and compare prices across retailers to find the best deal.

KrakenKeys is always evolving, and I'm always looking for ways to improve it. I keep a roadmap of features in the pipeline. If you have any suggestions, feel free to reach out via the contact page or by email: [email protected]. I'd love to hear from you.

Prices, along with other data points, are updated multiple times per day. If you notice any discrepancies, please report a bug by clicking the three dots next to the price and filling out the form, or reach out via the contact page, or by email at: [email protected]

GBP, EUR, USD and CAD are currently supported. I'm actively working on adding more currencies. If there is a particular currency you would like to see supported, please reach out via the contact page, or by email at: [email protected].

Yes, regional pricing is supported. Prices can vary a lot depending on the region, so I want to make sure you have access to the best deals available where you are. North America and Europe are currently supported. Global prices are shown where possible, but some stores set their own regional pricing. If you would like a particular region supported, please reach out via the contact page, or by email at: [email protected]

Yes, KrakenKeys uses affiliate links. They help support the site and keep it ad-free for users. Affiliate links earn a small commission when a user makes a purchase. This does not affect the price you pay, it just allows me to keep the site running and provide discounts to users via special offers.

Only stores I trust and have vetted are listed. I take that seriously, and only work with stores I believe are reputable and trustworthy. If you have any concerns about a particular store, please reach out via the contact page, or by email at: [email protected]
